When do I serve Champagne?

Champagne is most often served at celebratory occasions: a wedding, engagement party, birthday, Christmas or New Year's celebration for example. You can serve Champagne or sparkling wine to welcome guests, and if your event includes speeches or a toast (such as at a wedding), it is customary to fill everyone's flute beforehand so that all the guests can share in the toast.
