Ingredients
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped green sweet pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 - 15 oz can tomato sauce
- 1 - 15 oz can red kidney beans, undrained
- 1 - 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 2 to 3 tsp chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp dried basil, crushed
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- Optional:
- Chopped onion
- Chopped red pepper
- Sour cream
Preparation
Step 1
In a 3 qt saucepan, stir ground beef, sweet pepper, 1/2 cup chopped onion, and the garlic over medium heat until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain off fat.
Step 2
Stir in tomato sauce, undrained beans, undrained tomatoes, chili powder, salt, basil and black pepper. rbing to boiling, reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for over 20 minutes. To serve, ladle chili into bowls. If desired top each serving with cheese, onion, peppers and or sour cream.
