Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Sofrito
  • 1 packet Sazon
  • 1/4 to 1/2 can tomato sauce
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 diced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 10 diced olives
  • corn oil or Crisco for frying
  • Goya dough circles or homemade dough*

Preparation

Step 1

Heat olive oil in skillet. Add onions, garlic, Sazon, olives,
oregano, and Sofrito. Simmer 8-10 minutes.

Step 2

Add tomato sauce, stir. Add ground beef, simmer until meat is thoroughly cooked,

Step 3

Separate dough circles, wet the outer edge of circles with water.
Place 3-4 Tablespoons meat to one side of each dough circle, fold over and seal edge closed with a fork

Step 4

Fry in HOT corn oil or Crisco, drain on paper towels...enjoy!

*for homemade dough:
ingredients:
3 1/3 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 1/2 tablespoon shortening, chilled
1 egg - well beaten
3/4 cup cold water

Step 6

Mix flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut shortening into the flour mixture. Mix egg and water very well. Add egg mixture to flour and mix well using a fork. Divide the dough into 10 pieces, roll out into circles with a rolling pin.
