Hungarian Cabbage and Noodles (Haluska) 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 large onion peeled and cut in strips
  • 1 small head of cabbage, cut into strips
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 box or bag of large egg noodles, cooked and drained
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Preparation

Step 1

Prepare egg noodles, according to package directions

Step 2

Melt the butter in a deep skillet pan or pot.

Step 3

Sauté the onion in the butter for 5 minutes, add cabbage and sauté until glossy and tender.

Step 4

Add the salt and pepper. Cover, and let the cabbage mixture cook over low heat for about 15 minutes,

Step 5

Add to cooked drained egg noodles and mix.

Step 6

Serve with a dollop of sour cream...and some nice kielbasa!
