Ham and Cheese Baguette Toast

Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) milk
- 1/2 tsp (2 mL) dried basil
- 1/4 tsp (1 mL) each salt and pepper
- 12 diagonal slices (1 inch/2.5 cm thick) baguette
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) butter
- 4 oz (113 g) shaved Black Forest ham
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) shaved Parmesan cheese, or shredded Swiss cheese

Preparation
Step 1
In shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, basil, salt and pepper; dip bread into egg mixture to coat.
Step 2
In large nonstick skillet, melt half of the butter over medium heat; fry half of the bread, turning once, until puffed and golden, about 5 minutes. Repeat with remaining butter and bread. Arrange on rimmed baking sheet.
Step 3
Divide ham over bread; top with cheese. Broil until bubbly and melted, about 2 minutes.
