Crusty White Bread

By

This is a family favorite go-to quick bread recipe. You don't have to wait for the yeast to activate, and you don't have to spend a lot of time kneading the dough, only about 3-4 minutes.

Preparation

Step 1

Grease two (2) loaf pans. Place 2 1/4 cups warm water in a large bowl Sprinkle the yeast into the water and stir to dissolve.

Step 2

Stir in the honey, oil and salt. Stir in the flour, a little at a time, until a soft dough forms. Placing the dough on a floured surface, knead the dough for about 3-4 minutes.

Step 3

Divide the dough in half and shape into two (2) loaves. Place in the prepared pans. Place the pans on a baking sheet.

Step 4

Brush the beaten egg over the loaves. Place the baking sheet in cold oven and set oven at 375 degrees.

Step 5

Bake until the loaves are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped, 45-50 minutes. Remove the loaves from the pans. Transfer to wire racks to cool.

You can always spice this up by adding a tablespoon of your favorite herb or spice; Italian Seasoning, Thyme or Anise, etc. And you don't even have to stick with ground seasonings. Whole aniseeds or caraway seeds, whatever you think might taste good, will add taste and texture to your bread
