Homemade Pull Taffy!

NOTE: taffy can only be made when the temperature outside is below freezing. Taffy is pulled outside!

Ingredients
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbs white syrup
- dash of salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 stick real butter
- vanilla flavoring
Preparation
Step 1
Combine sugar, water, white syrup, and salt and cook until the temperature reaches 240F. Use a candy thermometer. Add 1/2 tsp of baking soda to 1 c milk warmed in microwave. Then alternate adding 1 tbs milk / baking soda mixture and 1 tbs butter to mixture. DO NOT STIR. Cook to 260F. Remove from heat.
Step 2
Pour mixture onto buttered cookie sheet. Add 1-2 caps of vanilla flavoring.
Step 3
Set pan outside in the cold and pull corners of taffy on pan.
Step 4
Once able to pick up from pan,twist and pull taffy on a buttered hook that's outside. Use butter as needed to pull the taffy. Pull until hard. The color of the taffy should look like a shade of light blonde. Then bring pulled taffy inside to cut into pieces. Wrap pieces with wax paper.
Step 5
Let the taffy set for a couple days until soft and creamy!
