Ingredients

  • 1-1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • *1/2 tsp cream of tartar

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350F.

Step 2

Lightly grease two cookie sheets or line them with silicone baking liners.

Step 3

Cream together the sugar and butter until fluffy.

Step 4

Beat in egg yolks and vanilla.

Step 5

Add flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Mix well into dough.

Step 6

Form walnut sized balls and place 2" apart on sheets - don't flatten them.

Step 7

Bake 9-11 mins until tops are cracked and just turning golden.

* Cream of tartar substitute: Lemon juice and vinegar are the best acidic substitutes. For every 1/2 tsp cream of tartar the recipe calls for, substitute it with 1-1/2 tsp lemon juice or vinegar.
