
Ingredients
- 2-1/4 cups flour
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup soft margarine or shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp water
- 1/4 c light molasses
- 2 tbsp sugar

Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 350F.
Step 2
Sift flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Set aside.
Step 3
Cream margarine and 1 cup sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the water and molasses.
Step 4
Gradually stir in dry ingredients.
Step 5
Shape into walnut sized balls and roll in remaining 2 tbsp sugar. Place 2" apart and flatten slightly.
Step 6
Bake 8-10 mins. Cool for 5 mins before moving to cooling rack.
