Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 ½ lbs. ground beef
- ¼ cup minced onion
- 1 tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. celery seed
- ¼ tsp. pepper
- ¼ tsp. sage
- 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- Sauce:
- 1 can pineapple tidbits drained (reserve syrup)
- 1/3 cup vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp. corn starch
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup chopped green pepper
Preparation
Step 1
Mix and form into 24 balls. Melt 1 Tbsp. shortening in large skillet. Brown meatballs on all sides until done. Remove from skillet and keep warm while preparing sauce.
Step 2
Stir reserved pineapple juice, vinegar, and soy sauce into skillet. Mix cornstarch and sugar and stir into syrup mixture. Cook, stirring constantly over medium heat, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute. Add pineapple, green pepper, and meatballs. Heat through.
