Ingredients
- Cake:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup softened margarine or butter
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- Creamy White Frosting:
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/8 cup softened margarine or butter
- 3/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 cup milk
Preparation
Step 1
Cake: Heat oven to 350°. Grease and flour rectangular pan, 13 x 9 X 2 inches. Beat all ingredients in large bowl on medium speed, scraping bowl constantly, until blended, about 30 seconds. Beat on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 3 minutes. Pour into pan. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely before frosting.
Step 2
Creamy White Frosting: Beat all ingredients on medium speed until smooth and spreading consistency. If necessary, stir in additional milk, 1 teaspoon at a time.
