Ingredients

  • 1 kg stew meat
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 turnip
  • 3-4 potatoes
  • 2 tbsp. "Better than Bouillon" beef flavor
  • 4-6 cups boiling water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp. corn starch

Preparation

Step 1

Brown beef cubes in olive oil with salt, pepper and any other seasoning you desire. Remove from pan if needed and brown chopped onion in more olive oil for about 5-10 minutes. Add both to large pot or slow cooker along with bouillon dissolved in boiling water. Add water to reduce the saltiness if needed. Simmer mixture for about 3 hours to tenderize beef.

Step 2

Add vegetables that have been cut into 1 inch chunks. Simmer til tender. Adjust seasoning to taste. Stir corn starch into 1/4 cup cold water and stir into boiling stew to thicken for a few minutes. Serve.

You can add any vegetables you like or serve over mashed potatoes.
