By

My hubby found this online and we are glad he did.. Family tested AND family approved. And we don't even put the glaze on it.. That is your choice

Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1 teasp. ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teasp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teasp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 apples

Preparation

Step 1

Peel and chop 2 apples of any kind (I usually use 2 different apples) and mix them with 2 Tbl. white sugar and 1 teasp. cinnamon and set aside. The original provider of this recipe said she had grated the apples because it was faster.. again this is your choice.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x5 loaf pan or line with foil or parchment paper first then spray that. This will help you to remove the bread when cooled

Step 3

Mix the recipes brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and set this aside. This will be used to sprinkle in and on the bread before baking... trust me with this.. I promise it is good..

Step 4

In another medium size bowl cream white sugar and butter together till smooth and creamy. (the fluffier the mix the difference in the final product. Try it several ways to really see the difference) Beat eggs in one at a time until well blended, then add your vanilla. (I am thinking of trying with almond extract. Will post after trying if it's good)

Step 5

Combine flour and baking powder in a bowl & whisk. Add to butter mixture until blended. Mix in milk until smooth.

Step 6

NOW comes the fun part... pour 1/2 the batter into the readied pan.. scatter 2/3 (aprox.) of your apple mix across the top of batter and sprinkle with 1/2 brown sugar/cinnamon mix. Gently tap the apples down some into the batter... just SOME.. and then top with the remaining batter.

Step 7

Top with the remaining 1/3 of apple mix and then sprinkle on remaining bs/c mix and tap this down a little also. You can swirl your batter a little with a knife blade at this point to have the "marbled effect"

Step 8

Bake in preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, aprox. 50 - 60 minutes.

Step 9

Cool about 15 minutes to drizzle with the glaze made from this recipe...
OLD FASHIONED CREME GLAZE
1/2 c. powder sugar (10X)
1 to 3 Tbls. milk or cream (depending on how thick you want the glaze)
