Ingredients
- 1 box macaroni noodles
- 1/4 C butter
- 1/4 flour
- 1 t ground mustard
- 1/2 t salt
- couple dashes paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 3 C milk
- 1 egg
- 2 C shredded cheese
Preparation
Step 1
Boil noodles 6 minutes and drain.
Step 2
Melt butter in saucepan, stir in flour and cook over medium low heat for 5 minutes.
Step 3
Add seasonings and milk. Cook until bubbly and thick.
Step 4
Beat egg and stir 1/4 C off hot mixture into egg.
Step 5
Add egg mixture into milk mixture. Stir.
Step 6
Turn down heat and add cheese. Stir until melted.
Step 7
Combine macaroni and cheese sauce into greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Sprinkle extra cheese on top.
Step 8
Bake 20 minutes covered and then 5-10 uncovered until cheese is golden.
Try different cheeses or add in some cream cheese or bacon pieces for a different twist.
