Ingredients
- 5 bone-in (or boneless) with skin OFF chicken thighs
- 5 tsp olive oil
- 1/3 C warm water
- 1/4 C packed brown sugar
- 2 Tbls orange juice
- 2 Tbls soy sauce
- 2 Tbls Ketchup
- 1 Tbls white vinegar
- 4 cloves of minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp chinese 5-spice powder
- 2 tsp corn starch
- 2 Tbls cold water
Preparation
Step 1
In large skillet over medium heat, brown chicken in oil for 18-20 minutes or until juices run clear. In a jarwith tight fitting lid, comine water, brown sugar, OJ, soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, garlic, pepper flakes, and 5-spice powder. Blend well and pour over chicken. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered 30-35 minutes.
Step 2
Combine water and cornstarch and gradually stir into skillet. Bring to a boil and cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with rice. Garnish with sliced green onion, if desired.
