  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup ice water

Preparation

Step 1

Sift dry ingredients together and set aside. In a medium bowl, beat the egg slightly and mix in ice water. Add a few drops of yellow food colouring, if desired. Stir in the dry ingredients, stirring only until mixed; will be slightly lumpy. Dip food into batter and deep fry until golden brown.

Keep batter cold while using. Place bowl into a bowl of ice water.
