Old Fashioned Date Nut Bread
Remember that gooey Date Nut Bread from years ago?? This recipe will certainly bring those memories back.
Ingredients
- Date Nut Bread
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 TBS butter, room temperature
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- Icing:
- 8 ozs cream cheese
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla

Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour bundt pan.
2 . Pour the boiling water over the dates into blender. Let sit while mixing other ingredients.
3. Cream together sugar and butter in bowl. Add eggs and vanilla. Blend well.
4. Add all dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Mix well.
5. Add wet ingredients with dry ingredients. Mix well. Fold in walnuts.
6. Add batter to bundt pan. Bake 55 - 60 mins or until done. Cake is done when center is poked with thin knife and comes out clean. Cool completely before icing.
7. Mix all ingredients for icing. Drizzle on cake. Top with walnuts (or favorite nuts)
Note: Ingredients for icing can be adjusted according to liking.
