Mixed dal (lentils)

Ingredients

  • Tuar dal- 1/8 cup
  • Moong dal- 1/8 cup
  • Urad dal- 1/8 cup
  • Masoor dal- 1/8 cup
  • Chana dal- 1/8 cup
  • Tomato-3
  • Onion- 1/2
  • Thin sliced green chilli- 2
  • Chilli powder- 1 tsp.
  • Salt
  • Cocum- 1/2 inch ball
  • Jaggery - 1 tsp
  • For sauteeing:
  • Ghee
  • Mustard seeds
  • Jeera
  • Ginger
  • To Garnish:
  • Coriander leaves

Preparation

Step 1

Pressure cook all dals together

Step 2

In a pan, saute mustard, jeera and ginger in ghee.

Step 3

Add chillies and onion and fry till translucent.

Step 4

Add tomatoes and chilli powder. Allow it to cook on slow flame for 10 min.

Step 5

Add cocum at last with jaggery.

Step 6

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Instead of cocum, lemon juice or tamarind extract can be added.
