A delicious family dinner recipe. My Grandmother served it on special occasions, but it's just as good for weeknight dinners as well. My Dad's favorite meal served over rice with salad and bread.

Preparation
Step 1
Pour small amount cooking oil into skillet. Add ginger and sprinkle lightly with garlic salt. Add beef ; cook until beef loses red color but do not brown.
Step 2
Add tomatoes, bell pepper, and soy sauce. Use enough soy sauce to make mixture a medium brown color, but be careful..too much will make the beef too salty.
Step 3
Simmer 30 minutes adding a small amount of water if it becomes too dry.
Step 4
make a mixture of plain flour or cornstarch and water to thicken sauce, adding a little at a time. Cook at least 15 minutes longer.
Step 5
Serve over cooked rice.
I have tried using garlic powder instead of garlic salt in this recipe and it hasn't worked for me.
