This is the classic chinese dish with tofu instead of chicken.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg extra firm Indian tofu, cut into 1 inch chunks
  • 1 sweet onion, chopped
  • 3 mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 2 banana peppers, chopped
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch in 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Preparation

Step 1

Fry tofu until golden. Saute onions, mushrooms, and garlic until caramelized. Add remaining vegetables, cook 5 minutes.

Step 2

Add remaining ingredients including tofu to onion mixture. Simmer until thickened. Serve over rice. Top with sesame seeds.
