Preparation

Step 1

Hand Painted Marzipan Fruit - Step 1

Place almond flour and powdered sugar in a food processor and pulse until combined. Add almond extract and rose water and pulse to combine. Add egg white and process until thick dough formed. Turn marzipan onto a work surface and knead it a few times. Roll it into a ball. Ready to be used. Unused dough keeps in refrigerator for at least a month or freezer 6 months. Bring to room temperature before using.

Step 2

Hand Painted Marzipan Fruit - Step 2

Pull apart a piece of marzipan(wrap remaining unused dough while working so not to dry out). Knead it into palm of hands and form into ball and shape the fruit

Step 3

Hand Painted Marzipan Fruit - Step 3

Have your paintbrushes and food coloring set up, to begin painting your fruit.

Step 4

Hand Painted Marzipan Fruit - Step 4

Once shaped, paint them by mixing colors to find right mixtures and tones you need. Allow them to dry a bit, test them by touch, if sticky or wet allow to dry longer. Once dry put a shine to them..in small glass bowl add equal parts of vodka and corn syrup. Try 1 tbsp vodka, 1 tbsp white corn syrup. With clean paint brush dip in mixture and brush fruit, allow to dry

Have either a picture of the fruit or real fruit to look at while forming dough. Use the clove stems for decoration(I used them for apples, pears, etc.) For raspberries roll tiny balls and put them together to for raspberry(once painted let dry then roll in granulated sugar). I know it seems difficult but really its not, it is like playing with play dough . In step 2 above, the picture of putting grapes together, that is my daughter helping me , she is 9 years old and she helped with raspberries. This was my second time making this fruit. So my tip for you is try it out because you might surprise yourself.
