"So many times people say that its too hard to have a meal all together, so I wanted to show that while it does take work, it is so worth it."

Hello Ruth, so tell us...

When did you begin your blog, and what inspired you to start it?

I began my blog as I was turning 30 and realizing, just how many people are not coming together for family dinners, or creating memories in the kitchen. I love to see people reconnect on a daily basis and to sit down for meals together. So many times people say that its too hard to have a meal all together, so I wanted to show that while it does take work, it is so worth it. I wanted others to experience the joy in the kitchen that I have, and others to be cooking with love.

How many hours per week do you spend on your blog?

It all depends on the week, but usually about 10-15 hours. I am constantly looking for inspiration for the blog everywhere I go. I plan on taking my blogging full time and creating a real name for myself in the blogging community and establishing myself as a food blogger.

Are you involved in the blogging community - how do you attract new readers?

I am involved in the blogging community, I am always trying to join new foodie sites, and always try social networking. Its a struggle at times to attract new readers, and I am always looking for new ideas.

What is your earliest food memory?

I grew up cooking with my mom and I have so many memories of that, but one of my first memories would be during the holidays having my Grandma's famous rolls. I have never found better rolls anywhere. My parents always encouraged me to try new things and I remember trying all sorts of new foods and preparations.

Which of your recipes would you suggest to readers for a perfect meal?

Well my roast chicken or pot roast recipes are always going to be a winner. Definitely try the red velvet cupcakes, they are to die for. Me personally my perfect meal would be my cerviche recipe, especially during the summer months, or the fish tacos.

If you could be a contestant or guest on any cooking show what show would you choose?

Definitely Masterchef, absolutely addicted to that show, I would also love to compete on Chopped or Next Food Network Star.

Is there any dish, ingredient or type of food you refuse to cook?

I will cook pretty much anything, but I will always have my favorites.

Who are your culinary idols?

I love John Besh, Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, Joe Bastianch, Julia Child (of course) and Escoffier or James Beard. But so many people that I love to learn from and I love any cookbook I can find!

What are your goals for your blog? Where would you like to see it in the next year? Five years?

I would love to see myself established as a reputable food & lifestyle blogger. My goal is to have my readership double this year, and within 5 years I would love to see it as a primary source of income.

Thank you Ruth for answering our questions and see you soon!
