Preparation

Step 1

Heat milk, salt, and sugar on the stove until bubbles appear on the side of the pan.

Step 2

Remove from heat, and put in a large bowl. Let cool.

Step 3

Add 2 cups of flour, and stir in dissolved yeast. Mix.

Step 4

Add one cup of flour at a time (stirring in between) until the dough can be handled - it should not be sticky. Form the dough into a ball.

Step 5

Put the dough in a buttered bowl, turning a few times so that the outside of the dough is coated.

Step 6

Cover and place in an off oven or microwave (there should not be air flow). Let rise for 1 1/2 hours or until size has doubled.

Step 7

Uncover, and punch down the dough. Lightly grease a 13 by 9 by 2 inch pan, and spread the dough flat.

Step 8

Make shallow indentations on top of the dough with your knuckles. Drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt.

Step 9

Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes or until light tan in color.

Step 10

Remove from oven, and wrap in wax paper to store.

This bread makes a good salami sandwich.
