What is Oktoberfest?

Initially a celebration of marriage in 1810 for the crown prince of Bavaria (who later became King Louis I  —  or Ludwig in German), and Princess Therese von Sachsen Hildburghausen, the festival has become a concrete tradition — two-hundred years later and people are still partying!

The modern day festival also stretches over a longer period, starting in September in order to enjoy longer, warmer days.
