Couples that watch series together are happier
When you are going through a rough patch with your loved one, and looking for ways to make things better, romantic ideas like taking a stroll in the park, or dining out at a fancy restaurant seem obvious... but you might be on the completely wrong track!
A recent study by the University of Aberdeen suggest that the best thing you can do for your wounded relationship is staying at home together.
More precisesly, they have found that couples who watch television series together are happier than those that dont!

The study found that this was especially true of couples that already have a shared social circle, but even in couples that didn't have overlapping social circles, watching TV together was a very strong predictor of relationship quality.
In the words Dr Sarah Gomillion, who led the study,: "Watching TV with a partner or watching a movie you both like is a really easy way to improve relationship quality and anyone can do it at any time so if this is something that is good for relationships, it might help us identify an intervention that can improve relationship quality."
According to the analysis, couples that watch shows together are able to bond over the events and characters in the same way they would with real-life friends and social circles. Shared experiences and points of reference are considered very important for quality relationships.
So what does this mean for you? Time to find a new series you and your loved one can watch together!
