Strawberry Millefeuille

Ingredients:

  • 1 roll of store-bought or homemade puff pastry
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 to 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar 
  • 1/3 cup sugar 
  • 9 oz. Mascarpone
  • 9 oz. strawberries
  • Powdered sugar, for sprinkling


Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry to 2-3 mm thickness. Beat the egg yolk with 1 to 2 tbsp of milk, and brush the pastry with it. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 min. Cut the puff pastry into 3 equal parts. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  3. Separate the egg yolks from the whites, and add a pinch of salt along with 1 tbsp powdered sugar. Beat until stiff, before adding the sugar to the egg yolks and whisking. Mix the mascarpone with the egg yolks, and carefully fold in the egg whites, to make the whipped cream.
  4. Hull, rinse and dry the strawberries. Cut them in half lengthways, before placing one section of puff pastry on a plate. Spread with whipped cream, and top with half of the strawberries. Place the second section of puff pastry on top and layer with more cream and strawberries. Top with the third sheet of puff pastry, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  5. Carefully cut the millefeuille into even rectangles.
  6. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 7-9 medium-sized strawberries
  • 1 puff pastry
  • 1 chocolate bar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Almond slivers
  • Powdered sugar

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cut the strawberries into halves.
  3. Dust some flour on a flat surface and spread your puff pastry out on top, smoothing it into a rectangle shape if necessary.
  4. Place the bar of chocolate in the center, then top with a layer of strawberry halves.
  5. Using a pizza cutter or a knife, slice the edges of the puff pastry into strips that can be wrapped over the chocolate and strawberries. Starting with the flap at the top, fold over each strip in a slightly diagonal direction so that they resemble a braid.
  6. Brush the braid with a beaten egg yolk so that it covers the entire visible surface.
  7. Sprinkle almond slivers on top.
  8. Bake for 20-22 minutes.
  9. Give the braid a few minutes to cool down, then cover with a dusting of powdered sugar.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
