Clean The Grates
Technically, you should be regularly cleaning your grill throughout the summer. But if you've waited 'til now, it's even more important to do a deep, thorough cleaning before packing everything up. Start by cleaning the grates to eliminate leftover food residue and grime. For charcoal grills, use a grill brush to scrub the charcoal and cooking grates. For gas or electric models, use a grill brush on the grates as well. If you're having a hard time getting the grime and residue off, try rubbing an onion on your grill grates and scrub again. It has enzymes that can help break down the nasty stuff.
