8. Lhardy - 1839
Where is it? Madrid, the capital city of Spain
It might not be the oldest restaurant in Spain, but Lhardy did revolutionize the country's hotel and catering industry. Its founder, Emilio Lhardy, was the first to implement practices such as presenting a menu with a fixed price, separating the tables, and providing a silver service experience.
Lhardy was, and still is, a benchmark of elegance and quality. All ingredients used in the restaurant are carefully selected and serious attention is given to even the tiniest of details. The restaurant is divided into five dining rooms: Isabelino, Japonés, Blanco, Sarasate, Gayaree, and Tamberlick, each sporting an unmistakable identity and elegance.
If the experience wasn't pleasant enough, guests are invited to take home some of the restaurants specialities, including croquettes, puff pastries, and pâtés from the small gourmet tineda at the restaurants entrance.
