If you have fatty liver or are at risk for developing liver disease, it's important to keep the animal fats you consume to a minimum. While cooking, you can try replacing butter with extra-virgin olive oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil. One study even found evidence to suggest that extra-virgin olive oil can reverse fatty liver, due in part to the fact that it contains the antioxidant hydroxytyrosol.
