Running Out of Meat

So you've got everything perfect—the grill is clean and hot, the meat marinated, the flames just right and your thermometer handy. Then suddenly you realize something terrible... You haven't bought enough food! Running out of meat is probably the worst possible grilling mistake you can make. If you aren't sure how much to buy, allow for around 8-12 ounces of meat per person.  If you are making your own burger patties, remember that they will shrink on the grill, as they have such a  high water content. At the end of the day, barbecues make great leftover food so when in doubt, get more than you think you'll need! Happy grilling!
