Removing Stretch Marks
Every mother's greatest nightmare! Stretch marks occur during the third trimester due to the sudden increase in weight and volume. This also results in a higher concentration of relaxin, a hormone that increases joint elasticity in preparation for the dilation of the birth canal, but that also impaires the skin's ability to produce collagen.
There are two types of stretch marks: pink and white. If the stretch marks are pink, they are in an early state, meaning they can be eliminated. If they're white, though, it means the tissue has broken and the mother's only option is to simply reduce them. As models tend to weigh very little, they have more of the pink ones, which they can treat with Vita A or alpha and beta hydroxyacid creams. These smooth stretch marks and nourish the skin, improving its texture. They also can undergo deep peelings to reduce scarring, as well as an injection treatment called carboxytherapy, which stimulates collagen production.
