Just how does makeup hold up in the corporate world? You might assume that your colleagues would take you more seriously if you eased up on the lipstick and left the smokey eye out of the office. One woman who works in the banking sector found that this wasn't at all the case! She writes, "It’s amazing how shallow people are and I learned that the hard way. Where I work, the 'prettier' you are and the more effort you put into your look, the easier it is for people to want to collaborate with you, to listen to you, and to be sold on your ideas, which in turn produces better work results and increases your chances of promotion."
