Pomegranate

Popular in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines, pomegranates are famous for their glistening, ruby-red seeds (also known as arils). Though small in size, they're mighty nutritious and packed with antioxidants and nutrients that do wonders for the body. In season from October through January, they'll add a beautiful pop of color and tangy sweetness to your fall and winter dishes.

Cooking ideas: added to sauces and syrups; used as a garnish for baked brie; tossed in salads, breakfast bowls, smoothie bowls, desserts; sprinkled over stews, roasted or grilled meats before serving; stirred into cocktails; raw as a snack; the juice can also be used in the same way as lemon or lime juice for added sweetness to any recipe.

Here's how to de-seed a pomegranate the right way.
