Eating shellfish improperly
If you've never eaten certain types of shellfish before, make sure you ask someone who has how to properly eat it. Oysters are meant to be picked up and slurped down (noiselessly), not eaten with utensils. With mussels, you can use a small seafood fork to pull the first one out of its shell, then continue to use that shell to eat the others. Lobster can be especially tricky and requires various tools to access the meat in its claws. When in doubt, ask for help, to avoid sending pieces of shell or meat all over the place.
