Southern born and bred, and having grown up in a family that loved good food and family, I learned to cook at an early age. I was fascinated with the varying food culture and cuisine throughout the world, and began collecting cook books as a hobby. I not only try different recipes from them, but I read them from cover to cover. I watch the cooking channels and especially love visiting the foreign kitchens. As a mother of four sons, I prepared a lot of meals for the family over the years, and my kids preferred a home cooked meal to fast food any day. In retrospect, I probably should have gone to cooking school instead of nursing school, because I often dreamed of running my own family restaurant, but I am happy cooking away in my own little country kitchen for all my family and friends.
