Rigatoni with Italian Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 796 ml can plum tomatoes, drained
  • 1 cup cream
  • 375g pkg rigatoni.

Preparation

Step 1

In a large saucepan melt butter over medium heat. Cook onion and garlic for 2 mins. Stir in oregano, basil and salt cook for 1 min. Add sausage; cook stirring for about 5 mins or until cooked through. Add tomatoes and mash up until very broken up. Stir in tomato paste and cream. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally for 15 mins

Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water and bring to a boil. Cook pasta until tender. Drain well and return to pot. Pour in sauce stirring until pasta is well coated.
