A NEW WAY TO SERVE FRIES

A NEW WAY TO SERVE FRIES

Every country has its own favorite way of serving French fries. The Belgians have frites topped off with mayo, the Germans have currywurst, Americans have Animal-style fries, and the Canadians have the cheese-curd-and-gravy mountain they call poutine. But did you know that the Aussies have also put their own spin on this favorite side dish?

CHICKEN SALT

CHICKEN SALT

Introducing: chicken salt. This Aussie-born seasoning was invented in Adelaide during the 1970s, and it was originally used for rotisserie chicken. It's a savory blend of salt, powdered chicken stock, onion and garlic powder, paprika, and extra flavors which can range from red pepper to turmeric. Vegan versions of chicken salt, such as the one pictured above, are also available on the market.

An Australian Sensation

An Australian Sensation

Although popular in Australia, chicken salt has only just begun to get some recognition overseas. It is most often served with fries (of course), but it can also be used to flavor your morning eggs, fried chicken, roasted vegetables, and so much more! With its versatility and unbeatable taste, chicken salt might start appearing in American restaurants and grocery stores before you know it.
