Ingredients

To serve two people:

  • 4 and 1/4 cups beef stock
  • 2 and 1/4 cups water
  • 1 onion cut into 6 pieces
  • 4 cloves of garlic, roughly chopped
  • 2 star anise
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 small piece of ginger, sliced
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1/2 packet of pho rice noodles
  • 3/4 cup beef steak, finely chopped

Accompaniment:

  • Bean sprouts
  • Fresh coriander
  • Slices of fresh ginger
  • 2 limes
  • 2 finely chopped spring onions
  • 2 jalapenos (red and green peppers)
  • Thai basil
