4. Using Too Much Food Coloring

Bright holiday cookies look so cheery and inviting, but be careful not to overdo it. Remember that food colorings are concentrated dyes, so a little bit goes a long way. Before adding more to your icing, make sure the color is completely mixed in. And lastly, add the coloring to the icing bowl(s), not the other way around; this way you can avoid unexpected streaks of color on the cookies.
