Cooking Your Oats in Milk

You might think that cooking your oatmeal in milk will lend it a delicious creamy texture. Wrong! Doing this can turn oats into a bowl of sticky, gluey muck. Unless that's your thing. The best thing to do is cook your oats in water, then add a splash or two of milk to the finished bowl for a touch of creaminess. Also, while steel-cut oats might be healthier for you than rolled, the latter takes less time to cook, and the final result is creamier, softer and more satisfying.

Try these oatmeal recipes that are anything but boring.
