Environmentally engaged
Despite the King's fondness for game meats and other normal indulgences like pizza, he remains continually engaged when it comes to sustainable food practices.
In a 2021 interview with the BBC, Charles explained his flexitarian approach saying, "I haven’t eaten meat and fish on two days a week and I don’t eat dairy products on one day a week.”
He went on to stress that it is a way to help the environment, to take the pressure off of it and that it is very important to know how meat is sourced: "where does it come from, how is it grown?" The King emphasized the need to seek out grass-fed animals with the correct breeding, to ensure a higher quality consumption of meat. On top of that, he is against industrialized farming, which churns out a higher volume of animal products to the detriment of the planet.
King Charles III's environmental approach is something to learn from, although it is true that organic foods are not a luxury we can all afford. The easiest way to follow his example is to switch to a flexitarian diet, eliminating animal products a several times a week, to reduce your overall consumption of them. Replace those foods with plant-based protein and plenty of fruits of veggies, and you'll start to feel a difference. It's not only good for the planet but also for your health.
