British Scones

Our scone recipe is based on Buckingham Palace's scone recipe, because you deserve nothing but the best! Enjoy with butter and runny jam for the most authentic experience.

Ingredients for 8 scones:

  • 3 3/4 cups (450 g) flour
  • 2 1/2 tbsp baking powder
  • 3/4 stick (85 g) butter
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup (160 ml)  buttermilk
  • Optional: 2/3 cup (100 g)  golden raisins
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, butter and sugar in a bowl. Mix until you get a crumbly texture.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk 3 eggs with the buttermilk, then add to the crumble mixture.
  4. Mix until a smooth dough is formed.
  5. If you're using golden raisins, add those and mix until evenly distributed.
  6. Remove the dough from the bowl and flatten into a thick sheet.
  7. Cover with cling wrap and let rest at room temperature for 30 min.
  8. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 2.5 cm. Use a large glass to cut the dough into round scones.
  9. Let rest for 20 min. longer.
  10. Mix 1 egg with the milk to create an egg wash. Gently brush it across the tops of the scones.
  11. Bake for 12 min. in the preheated oven until golden brown.
  12. Cool for 20 min. before serving with jam, butter or any of your favorite spreads.
  13. Enjoy !
