Grilled Naan Bread just like in India

Indian cuisine is famous for its mixing of unique spicies that come together to create tasty and exotic curries. Naan bread is a great side, and can be ripped apart and dunked in any deliciously saucy meal. When grilled, it tastes super delicious.

Here's out recipe ...

Ingredients (for 8 people):

  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 packets dry yeast
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 egg (beaten)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the warm milk with the sugar and the yeast. Let it rest for 20 mins until the yeast has dissolved.
  2. Put the flour in a bowl and mix in the salt and baking powder.
  3. Add the milk with the dissolved yeast. In a seperate bowl, melt 2 tablespoons of butter, and lix in the yogurt and beaten egg. Add everything to the milk and yeast.
  4. Knead everything well for about 5-8 minutes with a hand mixer or a food processor until the dough is smooth and hardly sticks.
  5. Using an immersion blender, mix everything together until the dough is smooth and doesn't stick.
  6. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for 30 mins. The dough should expand and double in size.
  7. Knead the dough, and divide into 8 balls. Flour a little and cover with a towel. Let them rise again.
  8. Preheat your grill. In a skillet, melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Roll the risen doughballs flat, brush with butter, and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  9. Grill the patties on both sides over high heat until large bubbles form in the dough. Cook over medium-heat until the dough is baked.
  10. Serve up and sprinkle with a little more salt in desired.
  11. Enjoy!
