5. Cannoli

Thankfully, the Sicilians brought cannoli to the U.S.! In the original iteration, crispy fried dough is filled with sweet ricotta cream and a little orange zest, but in America, we like to mix in small pieces of candied melon and mini chocolate chips. Add some "green nuts" (either dyed peanuts or pistachios) and you've got it made.

VIDEO: Strawberry Ginger Biscuit Tiramisu

You'll be eating this tiramisu with a twist all summer!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups strawberries
  • 12 oz  (1 1/2 cups) mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar

Method

  1. Blend the strawberries to a pulp.
  2. Mix the mascarpone cheese, sour cream, and sugar.
  3. Crush the ginger biscuits.
  4. In a jar or bowl, layer the biscuits, the strawberries, and the cream mix (biscuits, part of cream mix, strawberries, and then another layer of cream mix).
  5. Top off with a fresh sliced strawberry and some ginger biscuit crumbs.
