Poached Pears in Red Wine

No special skills are required to make this recipe -- just six ingredients, including pears, wine and warm spices!

Add a cinnamon stick, a bay leaf, and a little vanilla extract (all pantry favorites!) to a red wine characterized by ripe, black cherry flavors, such as a Caberet Sauvignon. The added ingredients will bring out the sweet, honey flavors of the fruit once it's poached in the wine mix.

Good to know: The pears should be ripe (but not mushy!), with a sweet and slightly tart taste. Get the recipe here.
