Homemade Hot Honey

Traditional cornbread is delicious on its own, but it can taste even better topped with a delicious sauce, gravy, or, jam. For the perfect sweet addition with a touch of heat, try topping your fresh cornbread with this quick and easy hot honey recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, butter, apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper flakes, and salt.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the butter is melted and the ingredients are well combined.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 1-2 min., stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the hot honey sauce cool slightly before serving.
  5. Drizzle the warm hot honey sauce over the sliced cornbread just before serving.
