Chili con Carne

Chili con carne is a slow-cooked, comforting dish made with ground beef or turkey, beans, tomatoes, and warm spices. It’s easy to prepare and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. This Crockpot Chili is perfect for game day, a cozy dinner, or a family gathering. It’s hearty, flavorful, and easy to make!

Ingredients (serves 6):

  • 1 lb. ground beef or turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (15 oz. each) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can (15 oz.) black beans, drained
  • 1 can (28 oz.) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, jalapeños

Instructions:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey, breaking it apart as it cooks. Once browned, drain any excess fat.
  2. In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onions and garlic until softened, about 5 min.
  3. Transfer the cooked meat, onions, and garlic to the crockpot. Add the beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper.
  4. Stir everything together until well combined. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours.
  5. Once the chili is done, serve it hot with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, or jalapeños.
