Chili con Carne
Chili con carne is a slow-cooked, comforting dish made with ground beef or turkey, beans, tomatoes, and warm spices. It’s easy to prepare and a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. This Crockpot Chili is perfect for game day, a cozy dinner, or a family gathering. It’s hearty, flavorful, and easy to make!
Ingredients (serves 6):
- 1 lb. ground beef or turkey
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans (15 oz. each) kidney beans, drained
- 1 can (15 oz.) black beans, drained
- 1 can (28 oz.) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. cumin
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, jalapeños
Instructions:
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey, breaking it apart as it cooks. Once browned, drain any excess fat.
- In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onions and garlic until softened, about 5 min.
- Transfer the cooked meat, onions, and garlic to the crockpot. Add the beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper.
- Stir everything together until well combined. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours.
- Once the chili is done, serve it hot with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, or jalapeños.
