Green Bean Casserole

This creamy classic is a true comfort dish that brings nostalgia and warmth to any meal. With tender green beans coated in a creamy mushroom sauce and topped with golden, crispy fried onions, this casserole combines creamy richness with a satisfying crunch. It’s an essential side for holiday gatherings that is sure to be hit!

Ingredients (for 6-8 servings):

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces (or 4 cups frozen green beans, thawed)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions (plus extra for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. If using fresh green beans, blanch them by boiling in salted water for 3–5 min. until tender-crisp, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, shredded cheddar cheese (if using), and season with salt and pepper. Add the green beans and 1 cup of crispy fried onions, stirring to coat.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 min. until bubbly.
  5. Sprinkle extra crispy fried onions on top and bake an additional 5 min. until the onions are golden and crispy.
