Cranberry Relish

Homemade cranberry relish is a vibrant, refreshing side that brings a delightful tang to any meal. Fresh cranberries are blended with orange zest and sugar, then complimented with a hint of cinnamon to balance the tartness with a subtle warmth. This easy, no-cook relish is perfect for holiday gatherings and pairs wonderfully with roast meats and vegetables

Ingredients (for 6-8 servings):

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries, rinsed
  • 1 large orange, zest and juice
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Optional: 1 small apple, peeled and diced

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, combine the cranberries, orange zest, orange juice, sugar, and cinnamon. If using, add the diced apple for a touch of sweetness and extra texture.
  2. Pulse the mixture until it reaches a coarse, relish-like consistency. Avoid over-blending, as the relish should retain some texture.
  3. Taste and add more sugar if needed, pulsing to mix.
  4. Transfer the cranberry relish to a bowl and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to deepen the flavor.
