This elegant appetizer is an indulgent treat that’s perfect for holiday gatherings. Better yet, no one will guess it’s so quick to make! The rich, velvety foie gras pairs beautifully with the sweet and tangy cranberry chutney, while the jelly adds a touch of sophistication. These bite-sized delights will be sure to impress your guests.
Ingredients (for 12 servings):
24 thin slices of toasted bread rounds
4 oz foie gras (fresh or pâté)
2 tbsp cranberry chutney
1 tbsp fruit jelly (such as fig or orange)
Fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary) for garnish
Instructions:
Lightly toast the bread rounds until crispy and golden. Arrange 12 of them on a serving platter.
Add the first layer of fruit jelly on top of each slice and top with another bread round.
If using fresh foie gras, slice it into small, bite-sized pieces and place one piece on top of each bread slice. If using pâté, spread a thin layer of it on the bread rounds.
Spoon a small dollop of cranberry chutney on top of the foie gras or pâté, creating a contrast of sweetness with the rich flavor of the foie gras.
Garnish each bite with a small sprig of fresh herbs, such as thyme or rosemary, for a touch of color and aroma. This will make your appetizers resemble holly!
Arrange the appetizers on a platter and serve immediately, or refrigerate until ready to serve.
